2021 Volkswagen ID.4: Specifications and Release Date

The 2021 VW ID.4 is the first all-electric vehicle of the German brand offered on this side of the Atlantic. Recently unveiled, the VW ID.4 (the price of which has not yet been announced) will arrive in dealerships in Quebec in the summer of 2021. Built on Volkswagen's new MEB platform, it has an elongated wheelbase and superior roominess thanks in particular to the freed-up space due to the absence of a combustion engine. In addition, the ID.4 features technical specifications that confirm Volkswagen's eco-friendly direction. The VW ID.4 is scheduled for release in the summer of 2021.

Under the hood of the 2021 ID.4

With its 82-kWh battery pack equipped with a cooling pump (facilitating battery management and autonomy, whether the temperature is very cold or very warm), the 2021 ID.4 has a range of approximately 400 km. The ID.4 will be available in a two-wheel drive version (rear-wheel drive, rear-mounted electric motor) or an all-wheel drive version (two engines, one in front, one at the rear). The rear-wheel-drive version develops 201 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive version generates 302 horsepower. The ID.4 is only available in a 100% electric version, i.e. no hybrid version with combustion engine is available.

An electric SUV that suits your lifestyle

The dimensions of the ID.4 SUV are ideal for families, professionals and sports and outdoor enthusiasts. Its body and wheelbase, comparable to those of the VW Tiguan, provide enough room for five occupants and their luggage. Like any Volkswagen vehicle, the 2021 ID.4 offers above-average driving dynamics, thanks to its very low center of gravity (the battery pack is placed under the seats), which allows it to turn, brake and, in short, behave like a sports car, a bit like a Golf GTI.

On-board technologies of the new VW ID.4

The sleek, uncluttered interior features the latest technologies, including a multimedia system with a 10" touchscreen (a 12" display is available) and a digital instrument cluster. Among the innovations offered, the ID.4 includes the ID. Light, an intuitive LED light bar under the windshield that lights up in certain situations and according to the driver assistance mode (lane change, driving obstacle warning, GPS directions, etc.). What is more, a panoramic glass roof and power-adjustable seats with massage function are available as options.

Residents of Laval, Terrebonne, Montreal North and the Greater Montreal area will be able to test drive the 2021 VW ID.4 upon its release, which is scheduled for the summer of 2021. In the meantime, consumers looking for a VW electric vehicle will be able to test drive the Volkswagen e-Golf, an all-electric version of the Golf.
