The new 2022 Volkswagen Golf R is coming soon to Laval
Some will remember when, in 1974, a German compact car first arrived to Volkswagen dealerships in Quebec, and it was to become an instant and resounding success. It was of course the VW Golf, which since then has earned a following of fans who love it unconditionally. This Volkswagen sedan is loved for many reasons, and the thrill of its performance and agility on the road are certainly at the top of the list.
It's with this in mind that VW Canada presented us last year its all-new 2022 Volkswagen Golf R, which will hit the streets of Laval, Terrebonne and Montreal-North towards the end of 2021. If you place a premium on pure performance, you will be glad to learn that the 2022 Golf R is keeping its beloved manual transmission. What’s more, Volkswagen is also adding a special driving mode, called Drift Mode, which you are sure to love when you are out on the track and doing your best Ken Block impression.
Another important detail, the turbocharged 2.0 L engine of the new 2022 Golf R generates over 310 horsepower, 27 horsepower more than the previous version. It also generates 310 lb-ft of torque, 30 more than the previous version. With a completely redesigned drivetrain and chassis, the Golf R is now lighter, and its suspension has also been strengthened by 10%. Other technical changes make the Golf R even more agile and responsive.
Among the modifications to the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R, eagerly awaited at Arbour Complex 440 in Laval, are new 19-inch wheels, a new bumper, side skirts, matte chrome mirror caps and blue brake callipers. The interior features blue trim pieces, such as blue stitching on the steering wheel, new sport seats and redesigned controls and displays.
Aside from the choice between the 6-speed manual transmission or the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and the optional sunroof, the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R is only available in one version. As for pricing, we'll know more as we approach its release date, expected to be sometime near the end of 2021. So stay tuned and be sure to visit our website, or drop by for a visit!
